The first day finished and the boys were exhausted even though they were glad to be racing and out of the Chicago weather. They survived a day that began with a ESE breeze gusting to 20-25kts, then rain, a two hour delay as the wind dropped and then a "creeper" of a second race.
They arrived back at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center beach around 4 PM and were glad to have Day One behind them. There are many "superstars" here - Anna Tunnicliffe of Olympic gold fame, Paige Raily, Sarah Lihan; Brad Funk and Luke Lawrence in the Full Rig division. Then there is Claire Dennis, Emily Billing, Mateo Vargas, Chris Barnard and many other notable racers. However, neither NT sailor is thinking about anything other than how to go faster.

The weather Day Two is colder, sunnier and about the same breeze - 15 Kt - now out of the NW. There are big waves on the Gulf of Mexico which will make racing more interesting. Both Drew and Cole are looking to have a better day Friday. With less than 10 hours of warmups between them here, yesterday was a tough way to start.
Other MISSA sailors in attendance are Alex Post (Loyola Academy, Wilmette) and Blair Listwan Grose Pointe, MI), Tim Zacher (Culver Academy, IN).
More to come.
