New Trier Sailing Team co-captain Drew Shea won the US SAILING Area K qualifier for the Junior National Single Handed Championship in Wayzata, MN. NT Senior Mark Gargula also qualified by finishing in second place. The Nationals will be held at Marblehead, MA from August 9 to 13. The event will be jointly hosted by Pleon, Eastern, Boston & Corinthian Yacht Clubs. The single handed competitiors will compete in Laser Full Rigs.
Shea competed in the finals in 2008, finishing third overall and receiving a bronze medal. This will be Mark's first time competing in the National Championship for the Smythe Trophy. To follow the competition, go to: http://championships.ussailing.org/Youth/ChubbJrChampionships.htm
